Charitable Giving and Intermediation

Fondazione Lang Europe Onlus has become Fondazione Donor Italia Onlus!

From May 12, 2020 the Fondazione Lang Europe Onlus has changed its name to Fondazione Donor Italia Onlus, without changing its operations.

The Fondazione Donor Italia Onlus is a non-profit organization and its exclusive aim is the pursuit of social solidarity purposes, implemented by carrying out direct and, mainly, indirect charity activities, i.e. financing social projects of other non-profit organizations both in Italy and abroad.

Fondazione Donor Italia Onlus adheres to the Transnational Giving Europe project, a network created in 1998 that collaborates with non-profit organizations in 21 countries, allowing private and corporate donors to financially support non-profit organizations in other member states, benefiting from the tax advantages provided by the legislation of their own country.

To date in Europe there is no other way for donors to enjoy tax benefits by donating from one country to another. If we can now speak of free trade and free movement for people and goods, this is not the case for donations, which still suffer from the limitation of the non-recognition of tax benefits to donors engaged in supporting a transnational social cause. The European Commission is aware of this problem and has already asked some countries to adapt their legislation, but it takes a long time. In this context, Transnational Giving Europe provides a solution to allow donors from 21 member countries to make donations aimed at supporting social projects in other member states while enjoying the tax benefits provided by the country of residence.

By joining this “network”, Fondazione Donor Italia Onlus allows Italian donors to enjoy the benefits offered by the Transnational Giving Europe network, which now includes organizations from these countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom. Transnational Giving Europe withholds a contribution of 5% on donations up to 100,000 euros and 1% on amounts in excess (maximum contribution: 15,000 euros), to cover operating expenses and network development.
