Case study: Assessing the socio-economic return of the Lacor Hospital in Uganda

Lang Centre on Strategic Philanthropy

The study performed by the Lang Centre on Strategic Philanthropy for Fondazione Piero e Lucille Corti through the SROI method (IN ITALIAN ONLY)

Thanks to the support of Fondazione Cariplo, the Lang Centre on Strategic Philanthropy, in partnership with Centro Studi Socialis, performed an assessment to measure the social impact generated by the Lacor Hospital, a private non profit hospital based in the Gulu area in North Uganda financed by Fondazione Piero e Lucille Corti.

The goal was to identify and calculate a summary indicator to enable Fondazione Corti, leading supporter of the Lacor Hospital, to assess the real social return for the local population and, consequently, the effectiveness of the philanthropic initiatives by the Foundation and its partners.

In particular, two questions guided the process:

  • What is the value of the social impact generated by Fondazione Corti’s investment
  • How much social value, measured in Euros, comes from each euro donated by Fondazione Corti
